Nine Months... We're Almost Due!

Yesterday marks nine months since the day my mom and dad announced that our family would try to adopt.

  We officially started about a month later, so our adoption journey will have taken about nine months, which is about the length of an average pregnancy.  

Our due date is coming up fast!

We are so blessed that our journey has gone so quickly.  Families wait for years and years.  We have only been waiting about nine months.  God has been with us through it all, and we are so blessed!

Our Baby Shower

It is a matter of days until my dad will meet my little sister and brother for the first time.

 

It is only a matter of weeks until they are home forever.

Sometimes seems like a dream to me.  I have thought about the day when they would come home for so long, it doesn't seem real that they'll be coming home so soon. 

 I used to have dreams about having a little sister.  Then I would wake up and remember it was only a dream, but now it is not.  It is a reality.

 

One of my family's very good friends had a sort of baby shower for us a few days ago.  People came and brought baby formula for us to take to the orphanage, and we brought pictures for them to see of our little kids.
Before we left everyone gathered around us and prayed over our family, and for all the changes that will be happening.  That time was amazing.  The power of God was felt.  It was so real, and touching. 
 

Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 years

Can it be that this little baby...

is 8 years old?  Can it possible that this little guy...

 

 

is now one of the big kids?

 

I guess so. 

 

David is not a stranger on the blog, so most of you know a little (or a lot!) about him,

but in honor of the occasion, I'll tell you a little more about him.

 

David is a gymnast.  He is always flipping, climbing, do head stands etc.  He is a level 4 gymnast and just got chosen to be on the team.

David is a dare devil.  When we are tubing at my grandparents house (which is on a lake)  he always wants to go on the "tippiest" and hardest tube to stay onto, and he loves it!

David has a big personality.  He likes loud, rocky, rappy music.  And guitars and ukuleles.  He likes to be different and funny.

He loves Brandon, and Brandon loves him.  When David and Brandon were little, Brandon would call David "Buddy"  and David would call Brandon "Nannon". 

 

 

David is a good listener and talker.  Sometimes he come to me and askes if I want to talk, and we disscuss the day and other things that are happening.

And as a last of all David is great with little people.  I am amazed what a good helper he is when we babysit, and he will be a great big brother!

Waiting and an update

Time is going so quickly, yet so slow at the same time.  The first half of the year flew past, and the second is quickly marching away too. 

 

 It is crazy to think that around this time next MONTH, our lives will be changed forever, and we will have two new little blessings in our house.   A month can seem forever, or just a second away, but either way it is coming and will be here before we know it.

 

Sometimes people ask if I'm "crazy excited" that my little siblings will be here soon, and yeah, I'm more excited that I can say.  But I really don't think about it a lot, because if I do I think I'll go nuts before this never-ending-30 or 40-days are over.  Waiting is really so hard.  I know that we have been blessed beyond imagining, and that things have go miraculously fast for us.  I know that, and I don't take it for granted.  But still the wait is hard. 

 

But anyway I'll fill you in on what we are waiting for.  My dad is leaving in a couple weeks to go to the embassy app. in Congo, then he'll come back for a week or so and both my mom and dad will fly back to Congo for around two weeks, and then they'll come home with two more Gilbartes.

"That's not for your hair... is it?"

We went to the hair store for the first time today to look at and familiarize ourselves with African hair products.  We went down several isles and finally stopped to look some hair oil someone had recommended.  After a couple of seconds an employee walked over and bended down next to us,"that's not for your hair... is it?" she whispered,  "because I don't think that would work..." 

We explained to her that, "no, it wasn't for our hair," and that we were adopting a little girl from Africa.  She was very helpful and excited for us.  But it sure was funny that she thought we were looking at African hair products for ourselves!

When I read that one of my bloggy friends was having a photo contest, I was excited.  Picture taking is one of my favorite things to do, so what could be better than a photo challenge?  I bet most of the people in my neighborhood thought I was crazy walking around this afternoon in 95 ° weather, taking pictures of their flowers, but who cares.  So this is my picture for the contest:
