Kaden and Bethany Quotes (#24-25 and #9)

I thought I'd lighten up my writing a bit by throwing in some cute Bethany and Kaden quotes. 
Enjoy!

In the car one day,

 Kaden was talking on and on about how much he wanted to buy baby clothes for himself.

 As hard as we tried to explain that there simply were not baby-style clothes made for a nearly 6 year old boy, he would not be stopped.

"We can buy yots of clothes!" he said,

"Mommy fings, and baby fings for me.  I'll buy a crib and a swing... and diapers!"

(Kaden adores baby diapers)

"We can look on the computer when we get home!

Right Mom?"

 By this time most of us were tuning him out; still he continued:

"Right, Dad?"
"Right Defany?"
"Right Brittany?"

"Right...?" and with a big sigh: "Oh well."

 

Tonight after dinner, Bethany found a lady bug, and was enjoying showing it to everyone. 

She showed it to Brandon, Whitey (our dog), me, and my mom.

When Mom said it, she smiled and said, 

"Aw, he's a-dori-ble!"

"Yes!" Bethany agreeded, "him is a-dori-ble!"

My mom and I were working on my history for the week.
It was rough, because I hadn't reviewed the material since Christmas break started, and didn't really remember any of it.
I thrive on writing intensive work, not just reading and answering question. 
I tried to explain that the text book I was using just wasn't working for me.
"This isn't how I'm wired, Mom," I said, "I just cant learn like this."
Then, from across the room, I hear Kaden yell,
"Sure you can, Brittany!  Sure you can!"

"I like Brittany... some days."

 

Ehhh, I better work on that!

Bethany Quote 7

Last week we got a babysitter that Bethany wasn't familiar with.

Bethany isn't shy at all around family,

but around strangers she can be very clingy and needy.

My mom and I were about to leave when she started to get really upset.

"Bethany," my mom said, "Mrs. Ilene is a really nice lady.  She loves to read books and go outside and play.  And guess what, she doesn't doesn't have to do any work; she can just play, play, play!"

Bethany thought about it for a second, and then jumped up and ran up stairs yelling,

"Yay!  Yay! Yay!"

She didn't have another problem the whole rest of the day!

 



Bethany Quote 6

Dad heard this Bethany quote,

and told us about it tonight.

Bethany is sorta-kinda potty training.

Sometimes she has a diaper, sometimes she doesn't.

On this particular afternoon she didn't, and was playing outside.

My dad walked out into the garage and saw a big puddle of water.

He saw a water bottle turned over and thought maybe the water was from that.

After cleaning it up, he went to find Bethany.

"Bethany," he asked, "did you spill your water?"
"No." she answered, "pee-pee!"

Close to bedtime one night, Kaden and Bethany were playing together. 

Soon it was time to get ready for bed, and I called them to come upstairs.

They were having a fun time playing and took a while to come.

"who's going to be the first listener?"  I asked.

Bethany looked up and without hesitation said,

"Ka-Ka."

One day after lunch, Brandon was sitting on the back of a chair - a place that wasn't meant for sitting. 

"Mommy, look!" Bethany said, pointing.

"I see," Mom said, "Brandon's sitting on the back of the chair, just like he's not supposed to."

Bethany ran to the chair and climbed up.

"Mommy!" she said, "me too!"

Kaden and Bethany were playing with my hair.

They were combing, brushing, and putting clips in.

Kaden worked on placing a hair clip in just the right place,

and when he finally got it there he told Bethany,

"Defany, don't touch this.  Ok, Defany?  Don't touch this!"

Bethany looked at him, then the clip and said

"Let it go!"



Bethany's 2nd Birthday

Today Bethany is 2 years old! 

Happy birthday, Bethany!

We surprised her with a rocking horse when she woke up this morning and then headed to the strawberry field after lunch.

 

 

 

 

 

After looking at the animals and picking for 30 minutes, we were all hot and ready for some ice cream.  Not many of us were hungry, though, because of all the snacking on the strawberries!

Bethany loves strawberries, and kept eating and eating and eating them:)

 

 

While eating ice cream, my dad said to Bethany,

"Happy birthday, Boo Boos!"

She looked at him for a second and then laughed,

"No dad!  ME!" 

Hurray for the 2nd Bethany quote!

 

During nap time my mom and I made strawberry short cake.

It turned out great and was a huge hit!

 

 

 

 

Then it was time for gifts.  I don't have many pictures because the lighting was so bad and the camera cant take good pictures with bad lighting. 

So I took a break and enjoyed watching Bethany open her gifts.

 

We had a great day today!

Bethany is such a sweet and silly little girl, and we are so blessed her family!



Bethany Quote #1 And Her Speech

We are so proud of Bethany.

She has just started to talk and use words!

 

For the longest time, since she was maybe 9 months or so, we used simple signs for words like

"more", "please", "thank you", "all done", "blankie", "drink," etc. 

She is almost two, so my parents decided to have a team come to evaluate her, mainly for speech.

She was very advanced in all areas... except speech.

We were thinking we would start speech therapy,

but Bethany decided that would be necessary and started talking!

 

 

 

When she was around 6 months old she began to say "da da."  We pretended like it was unfair of her to recognize my Dad before my mom or any one else.

But as she grew old we noticed that "da da" was whatever she happened to be looking at at the time.

Then mom was "da da", I was "da da" and Dad was "da da". 

I guess she was being fair after all!

Then da da trailed off and we stopped hearing it.

Then came her first real word:  "woof."

Yes, that was really the first thing she said.

We would all ask her,

"Bethany, what does the doggie say?"

and she would respond in a low, growly sort of "woof."

Our dog, Whitey, was proud!

 

 

Now Bethany (at almost 2) says

"doggie", "baby", "juice", "mommy," "daddy,"  "Na Na," (for siblings) "whitey", "no!" (That was big for a while!) "yes" and one of my favorites which is "more".  She says it like "mo" and asks, "mo Mom, mo!"  its is so cute to hear!

 

She also sings.

The boy taught her how to sing "Let it go,"

and no, we haven't seen Frozen.

Bethany's also picked up on Kaden's favorite song; "What Does the Fox Say?"

She'll answer, "ding ding ding da ding."

Yep, she knows her stuff!

 

So all in all, we're super proud of our little girl. 

She is so amazing and makes us laugh all the time.

This happened two nights ago while my dad and I were helping Kaden get ready for bed. 
We read books, and sang songs with him and were just finishing our good nights when Bethany walked in.

"Defany, Defany!" He said excitedly, "you forgot sing and read with me!  Chickens!"

She looked at him for a second and then swung her arm in the air replying,

"all man!"

It was sooooo funny.
